Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving was fined $25,000 by the NBA for throwing a basketball in the stands following Boston’s loss to the Nuggets on Monday.

The league announced the fine on Tuesday.

Irving, who scored 31 points in the 115-107 loss, expressed frustration after the game about Jamal Murray’s 3-point attempt in the final seconds to try to reach the 50-point mark.

“Congratulations to him having 48 points. He did it in a great fashion against us . . . He was the primary concern tonight and he made us pay in certain instances of making some tough shots and some tough layups,’’ Irving said Monday. “But the ball deserves to go in the crowd after a [expletive] move like that. So I threw it in the crowd.’’
